On March 6, 2022, 21-year-old Aven Deione Mitchell was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 6:15 p.m., West Precinct officers responded to a report of a person shot at Fire Station 18 on Dugan Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Mitchell and another male inside a vehicle, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim was transported to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
