On March 2, 2024, 13-year-old Aston Starkey was found unresponsive at the Extended Stay America hotel on Cahaba Park Circle in Birmingham, Alabama. Emergency responders transported him to Grandview Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Initial investigations by the Birmingham Police Department and the Shelby County Department of Human Resources revealed suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
