In the early autumn of 2021, the life of 22-year-old Imari Tyquan Glanton, a male resident of Dothan, Alabama, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Friday, October 1, 2021, Dothan Police Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Monroe Street following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Glanton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite any efforts to render aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
An aspiring entrepreneur and a father to three young daughters, his sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of his family, including his twin brother.
For over two years, the investigation into Glanton's death continued, a period of uncertainty for his loved ones and the community. Then, on January 23, 2024, a significant development emerged in the case. The Dothan Police Department announced that they had charged 24-year-old Ty'Shauwn Markise Bryant with the murder of Imari Glanton. This breakthrough brought a renewed focus to the quest for justice for the young father.
The arrest of Bryant revealed a more complex and troubling history. At the time he was charged with Glanton's murder, Bryant was already incarcerated in the Houston County Jail. He had been previously charged with the murder of Christina Moore, which occurred on September 6, 2020, also in Dothan. Following Moore's death, Bryant had fled the area, leading to a manhunt that concluded with his capture by U.S. Marshals in Newnan, Georgia, on November 30, 2021. As of the announcement of the charges in Glanton's case, Bryant was still awaiting trial for the 2020 murder. The legal proceedings for the murder of Imari Tyquan Glanton are also pending.
