On May 22, 2022, 21-year-old Jacques Adarius McLeod-Roberts was fatally shot outside a downtown café in the 200 block of East Powell Street in Dothan, Alabama. An unidentified individual approached McLeod-Roberts and shot him once; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
