On December 30, 2021, 46-year-old Michael Charles Richard was found shot to death in a vehicle parked outside the vacant former Knights Inn motel at 1121 9th Avenue Southwest in Bessemer, Alabama. His wallet was missing, but his mobile phone and work identification were found with him. The Bessemer Police Department is investigating his death as a homicide.
