On the night of March 11, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Bessemer police responded to reports of a vehicular accident at the intersection of 25th Street and 10th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a damaged utility pole but found no vehicle at the scene. Shortly thereafter, at 11:17 p.m., they were directed to a nearby alley off 25th Street, where they located 49-year-old Andrew James Minter suffering from a gunshot wound. Minter was pronounced dead at the scene.
