On January 6, 2022, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 29-year-old Derika Shanice McGhee and her 8-year-old son, Aiden Carter Williams, were tragically killed in a domestic violence incident that culminated in a murder-suicide. Authorities responded to a residence in the Hinton Place neighborhood around 3 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
