In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Holt, Alabama, a community in Tuscaloosa County, the life of 35-year-old Jessika Lyn Andrews was tragically cut short. On March 5, 2024, deputies from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for a welfare check at her residence on 47th Avenue Northeast. Inside, they made a grim discovery; Andrews was found deceased, having been assaulted and suffering from what appeared to be blunt force trauma.
The initial investigation
quickly pointed to a history of domestic violence. At the scene, Andrews' children informed the authorities that a man with whom their mother had a past dating relationship had been at the house earlier and had left after an argument. It was also noted that Andrews' vehicle was missing from her home. This information led investigators to focus on her ex-boyfriend, 40-year-old Jarvos Jermaine Osborne.
Within a few hours, law enforcement located the victim's missing vehicle. Inside, they found Osborne and took him into custody for questioning. The evidence gathered from the residence, the vehicle, and from the suspect himself, combined with witness and family interviews, provided the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit with enough probable cause to charge Osborne in connection with Andrews' death.
Further investigation revealed that Osborne had an extensive criminal history, including prior arrests for domestic violence involving Andrews. At the time of the incident, there were two active court orders, conditions of bond or probation from previous domestic violence charges against him, which mandated that he have no contact with her. Due to these violations, the charge against Osborne was elevated to capital murder. He was subsequently booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail and held without bond.
