In the early morning hours of a Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a heated argument between a young married couple escalated to a tragic and fatal conclusion. On February 12, 2023, police were called to an apartment on Old Greensboro Road around 2:15 a.m. following reports from concerned neighbors who had witnessed a loud dispute. The fight between 24-year-old Bernice Etienne Walker, a female, and her husband, Devin Levon Walker, also 24, had reportedly spilled from their residence to the outside
area before they returned indoors.
Upon their arrival, officers from the Tuscaloosa Police Department entered the apartment to a grim scene. Both Bernice and Devin Walker were found deceased inside their home, each having sustained gunshot wounds. The initial investigation by the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit quickly pointed towards a murder-suicide. Evidence gathered at the scene, combined with statements from witnesses who overheard the altercation, led investigators to believe that Devin Walker shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself.
