On January 9, 2022, 20-year-old Aaliyah Tyanna Hatcher was fatally shot multiple times on Minter Avenue in Selma, Alabama. A former standout basketball player at Selma High School, Hatcher had also played for a season at Wallace Community College-Selma. She was transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
