On a Thursday morning in Dallas County, Alabama, the life of a 28-year-old Black / African American woman, Kadeejia Lee, was brought to a tragic and violent end. On June 23, 2022, while waiting in her car in the parking lot of a manufacturing plant where she was about to start her shift, Lee was fatally shot. The incident that unfolded was captured on surveillance footage, providing a chilling account of her final moments.
Authorities identified the suspect as 29-year-old Cherrell Tyus.
It is believed that Tyus and Lee had been involved in an altercation prior to the deadly encounter. In the parking lot, Tyus allegedly pulled up next to Lee's vehicle and opened fire. Lee was struck multiple times but managed to get out of her car before she collapsed on the ground.
Following the shooting, law enforcement began their investigation, which quickly led them to Tyus. She was later located and arrested near a family member's house. Tyus was subsequently charged with capital murder in connection with the death of Kadeejia Lee. She is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail without bond as she awaits legal proceedings.
