On a Sunday evening in Selma, Alabama, the community was shaken by the city's first homicide of the new year. On January 14, 2024, officers from the Selma Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the 2100 block of Woodrow Avenue East. Upon their arrival at approximately 7:15 p.m., they discovered 38-year-old LaToya McCord inside a vehicle, unresponsive.
She had been fatally shot.
The investigation into McCord's death quickly pointed to a suspect, 27-year-old Quandarious Green of Selma. Detectives were able to identify him, and he was taken into custody for questioning. The preliminary investigation suggested that the shooting stemmed from a domestic altercation. It was reported that Green and McCord shared a child, though they were not in a relationship at the time of the incident.
Following his questioning, Quandarious Green was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of LaToya McCord. He was subsequently booked into jail and is being held without bond. At the time of his arrest, law enforcement officials stated that the investigation was ongoing and did not release further details about the circumstances that led to the fatal argument.
