On the evening of November 10, 2022, 20-year-old Alvineisha Demontreyce Carter was fatally shot in Selma, Alabama. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. on the 600 block of Martin Luther King Avenue, where Carter was struck multiple times in the neck and torso. Despite prompt medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
