On October 16, 2013, James Baxter, aged 46, was shot and killed in an alleyway located in the rear of the 500 block of 48th Place, NE, Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 11:09 p.m. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers responded to the scene after reports of gunfire, where they discovered Baxter suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
