On a late summer afternoon in Washington, D.C., violence shattered the quiet of a Northeast neighborhood. On Sunday, August 29, 2021, at approximately 4:11 p.m., the sounds of gunfire echoed through the 3500 block of Clay Place, Northeast. When officers from the Sixth District arrived at the scene, they discovered a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as 37-year-old Bruce Scott, a resident of Southeast, D.C.
Emergency medical services responded quickly, but tragically, they found that he showed no signs of life. Bruce Scott was pronounced dead at the scene, his body later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the case. To date, there has been no public announcement regarding any arrests made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been officially named. The police have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death.
