Omer “Kaan” Demir, a 28-year-old man, was fatally shot on Sunday, June 9, 2024, in the Brightwood neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 11:28 PM in the 800 block of Underwood Street NW, near Piney Branch Road. At the time of the shooting, Demir was dropping off his girlfriend after a date.
