On a December night in 1989, James McCallum, a 36-year-old construction foreman and father of two, lost his life in a brutal stabbing in Northeast Washington, D.C. A resident of the 1300 block of Holbrook Street NE, McCallum had moved to the city from North Carolina as a teenager.
