In the summer of 2022, the life of 18-year-old Quantavious Howard, a Black male from Eufaula, Alabama, was tragically cut short. On the night of Saturday, July 16, 2022, gunshots rang out in the area of Dr. T.V. McCoo Boulevard, prompting multiple 911 calls to the Eufaula Communications Division.
Eufaula patrol officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:28 p.m..
Shortly thereafter, police were notified that two individuals had been dropped off at Medical Center Barbour with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was Quantavious Howard, who had sustained wounds to his upper body. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The second victim, a female, suffered a single gunshot wound to her lower body and was treated for her injuries. The Eufaula Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division immediately launched an active investigation into the shooting.
In the days following the incident, law enforcement appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case. The Eufaula Police Department encouraged anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact them directly or to use their anonymous tip line.
