An 18-year-old male, Jamari Smith, passed away on a Wednesday afternoon in May. Smith, an incoming freshman football player for the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was looking forward to starting his college career. On the day of his death, he was with friends at a lake in Lee County, Alabama. While swimming, he reportedly grew tired and slipped beneath the water's surface.
