On August 20, 2022, at approximately 12:39 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the 4400 block of Ishkooda-Wenonah Road Southwest. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Jamari Rashaad Smith lying in the front yard of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention from Birmingham Fire and Rescue, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
