On the evening of September 3, 2022, a burst of gunfire in a Birmingham, Alabama neighborhood claimed the life of 24-year-old Black / African American male Jalen Hector Jamarcus Tolbert. The shooting, which occurred in the Elyton Village housing community in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue West, also resulted in the death of 25-year-old Marquse Terrail Yarbrough, turning a Saturday night into the scene of a double homicide.
