On the evening of September 3, 2022, 24-year-old Jalen Jamarcus "Hector" Tolbert was fatally shot in a violent incident in Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 9:20 PM, Birmingham Police Department officers responded to multiple ShotSpotter alerts in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue West. Upon arrival, they discovered Tolbert and 25-year-old Marquse Terrail Yarbrough lying in the roadway, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
