In the winter of 2023, a domestic dispute in Huntsville, Alabama, escalated to a fatal conclusion, claiming the life of 28-year-old Richard McQuarley. On Sunday, February 12th, police were dispatched to an apartment complex located on the 5000 block of Galaxy Way following reports of shots being fired. Upon their arrival, they discovered McQuarley with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Richard McQuarley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Huntsville Police Department's Major Crimes Unit immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. Their inquiries led them to identify London Kortezz Phillips Goodwin, a 25-year-old, as the primary suspect in McQuarley's death. Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.
Two days after the fatal shooting, on Tuesday, February 14th, London Kortezz Phillips Goodwin voluntarily surrendered to the authorities. He was subsequently arrested and formally charged with murder. Following his arrest, Goodwin was booked into the Madison County Jail. The investigation into the death of Richard McQuarley remains ongoing.
