On March 26, 2023, 17-year-old Caleb Cornandus Whitt, a senior at P.D. Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham, Alabama, was found deceased in the parking lot of the University Crossings apartment complex, located in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue Southwest. At approximately 12:15 PM, the Birmingham 911 Communications Division received multiple ShotSpotter alerts indicating gunfire in the area.
