On July 23, 2016, 28-year-old Brandon Cantrell Hines was fatally shot at the Valley Brook Apartments located in the 2900 block of Gallant Drive in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., when Birmingham police responded to reports of a person shot. Hines sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on July 25, 2016.
