On September 4, 2008, 31-year-old Demetrius Lamar "Meat" Reigns, a dedicated coach for the McAdory Yellow Jackets' 5- and 6-year-old little league football team, was tragically shot and killed in the Inglenook neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama.
