On May 5, 2023, officers from the Talladega Police Department conducted a welfare check at a residence on Howell Cove Road in Talladega, Alabama. Upon entering the home, they discovered 43-year-old Johnathan Vann Boyd deceased, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Boyd's body was subsequently transported to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
