On August 8, 2024, a fatal incident occurred at the Chevron gas station on 600 Broadway Avenue in Talladega, Alabama. The Talladega Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and discovered 24-year-old Marvin Darrius Smith Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Citizen's Emergency Room, where he succumbed to his injuries.
