On May 26, 2019, Damonte Dewayne Battle, an 18-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in Talladega, Alabama. The incident occurred at an apartment complex and was classified as an accidental shooting resulting from a negligent discharge of a firearm.
Following the incident, 20-year-old African American male Cecil Paul Adair II was arrested in connection with the shooting. Authorities determined that the shooting was unintentional, stemming from the mishandling of a firearm.
