In the early morning hours of May 31, 2026, the life of 18-year-old Jy'Kavien D. Wright, an African American male, was tragically cut short in Talladega, Alabama. Just two weeks after the celebratory milestone of his graduation from Talladega High School, Wright was found lying on a sidewalk in the 600 block of McAlpine Street with a single gunshot wound to the head. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:24 a.m. following a report of a gunshot victim.
