In the winter of 2014, a tragic event unfolded in the nation's capital, forever altering the lives of one family. On the afternoon of December 4th, 37-year-old Anthony Larry Leak Jr., a Black male from Suitland, Maryland, was found inside a car at the intersection of Anacostia Avenue and Ponds Street in Northeast Washington, D.C. He had been fatally shot in what the Metropolitan Police Department would later rule a homicide.
