In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Washington, D.C., a tragic and unforeseen act of violence claimed the life of 29-year-old Sergio Nicolas Rosario Arias, a male resident of the Bronx, New York. On March 30, 2023, at approximately 9:27 p.m., Arias was resting in the sleeper berth of a semi-truck traveling near the intersection of DC-295 and Kenilworth Avenue in the Northeast quadrant of the city.
Unbeknownst to him, a dispute between individuals in other vehicles was escalating into a dangerous exchange of gunfire.
Caught in the crossfire, Arias was struck by a stray bullet while he slept. The driver of the semi-truck, realizing what had happened, pulled over in neighboring Prince George's County. Emergency services were alerted to the broader incident, initially finding two other adult male victims at the scene of the shooting on Kenilworth Avenue. These men were transported to local hospitals for their injuries. Shortly thereafter, authorities located the semi-truck and discovered Arias with life-threatening wounds.
