On a late summer evening in Washington, D.C., a young man's life was tragically cut short by gunfire. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 27, 2020, in the 800 block of Ridge Road, Southeast. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 10:19 PM, officers from the Sixth District discovered a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as 23-year-old Byron Bright, a Black male from Oxon Hill, Maryland.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and transported him to a local hospital for treatment. Despite all life-saving efforts, Byron Bright succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the fatal shooting. As of now, specific details about any potential suspects or motives have not been released to the public. The police department is urging anyone with information regarding the case to come forward and has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide.
