Shawn Minor, a 33-year-old male special police officer, was fatally shot while on duty in the early hours of Sunday, May 22, 2022, in Washington, D.C. At approximately 12:23 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the sound of gunshots in the 2500 block of Elvans Road, Southeast. Upon arrival, they discovered Minor with gunshot wounds and showing no signs of life.
