In the autumn of 2025, a quiet Saturday evening in a residential Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On October 18th, in the 3200 block of 15th Place, SE, a 37-year-old man named Eric Jones was shot. Seventh District officers responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 9:43 p.m. and found Mr. Jones unconscious and not breathing, having sustained gunshot wounds.
