Pascal Emile Charlot, aged 72, was tragically killed on October 3, 2002, in Washington, D.C. He was shot while crossing the street at Georgia Avenue and Kalmia Road NW. Charlot, an immigrant from Haiti who had lived in the Petworth neighborhood for nearly three decades, was a retired carpenter and handyman known for his community spirit and willingness to help neighbors with home repairs.
