In the late morning of Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2019, tragedy struck in the nation's capital. A 28-year-old Black man named Michael Andre Francis was in the Unit block of Danbury Street, Southwest, when the sound of gunshots pierced the air. Officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of the shooting at approximately 11:42 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Francis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
