DeVonte’ Jamal Maxwell, a 30-year-old resident of Northwest Washington, D.C., was fatally shot on May 11, 2023, in a violent incident in Southeast D.C.

The shooting occurred in the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast D.C. At around 8 p.m., police responded to the scene and found Maxwell suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response, Emergency Medical Services pronounced Maxwell dead at the scene.
