Vernica Searcy, a 33-year-old African American woman from Montgomery, Alabama, tragically lost her life on January 7, 2024, after sustaining a fatal gunshot wound. The incident occurred in the 3800 block of South Court Street, where officers and fire medics responded to reports of a shooting around 6:20 p.m. Upon arrival, emergency responders found Vernica Searcy, 33, suffering from a gunshot wound.
