Kentaro Talalelei Cooper, a 25-year-old male, tragically lost his life on August 1, 2021, in Killeen, Texas. Kentaro, who was of mixed ethnicity, was working as an employee at a Valero convenience store located on 3900 Trimmier Road when the incident occurred. At approximately 3:53 AM, Killeen Police Department officers were dispatched to the location following a report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, they discovered Kentaro suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 4:40 AM.
The investigation into Kentaro's death revealed that there was no evidence of a robbery at the scene, and he was identified as the sole employee working at the time. Detectives identified a person of interest described as a light-skinned male, who was last seen wearing a face mask, a beanie, and multiple layers of dark-colored clothing.
