A 23-year-old Black woman, Khiana Humphrey, was fatally shot in Montgomery, Alabama, on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Humphrey's death has been classified as a homicide resulting from gun violence.

In the months following the shooting, law enforcement authorities in Montgomery investigated the case. This led to the U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force apprehending 32-year-old Bennie Humphrey in Hutto, Texas.
