Pravin Raojibhai Patel, a 76-year-old Indian-origin man, had been a familiar and friendly face in Sheffield, Alabama, for over four decades. As the owner and operator of the Hillcrest Motel, he was known for being a kind, jolly, and dedicated family man. His life, however, came to a tragic and abrupt end on the morning of February 8, 2024, during a confrontation at the very business he had run for so long.
