On August 9, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Sheffield Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim at Helen Keller Hospital. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Christopher Tyrone Fuqua, had sustained injuries from a shooting that occurred earlier at "The Underground," a nightclub located on South Columbia Avenue in Sheffield, Alabama. Despite medical efforts, Fuqua succumbed to his injuries.
