In the autumn of 1918, a dedicated police officer, 40-year-old John Graham, had been serving the community of Sheffield, Alabama, for only a brief period. His commitment to upholding the law would tragically cost him his life, setting off a grim chain of events that would see justice sidestepped in favor of mob rule.
