In the port city of Mobile, Alabama, the life of JaCurtis Robinson, a 21-year-old Black man, was cut short by gunfire. On the morning of Sunday, March 3, 2024, officers with the Mobile Police Department were called to the 4000 block of Seabreeze Road North around 11:25 a.m. for a report of a person shot. When they arrived, they found Robinson deceased at the scene.
The investigation quickly identified a suspect in the domestic-related shooting.
Authorities arrested Robinson’s girlfriend, 23-year-old Desiree Janae Holiday, and charged her with murder. Following her arrest, Holiday was denied bond. She pleaded not guilty on March 12.
A Mobile County grand jury later reviewed the evidence and handed down an indictment against Holiday for the murder charge. She was subsequently released from jail after posting a $75,000 bond. In April 2026, prosecutors alleged that Holiday had violated the terms of her bail by leaving her Montgomery home and failing to pay fees for her electronic monitoring, but a judge declined to revoke her bond.
During her trial in Mobile County Circuit Court, Holiday’s defense team argued that she had fired the gun in an attempt to stop a robbery, claiming she had $4,837 in her purse at the time. In August 2026, a jury found Desiree Holiday guilty of murder. On September 30, 2026, a judge sentenced her to serve 25 years in prison for the killing of JaCurtis Robinson.
