In the spring of 2015, a burst of gunfire shattered the afternoon calm in Southeast Washington, D.C., leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at approximately 4:00 p.m., 23-year-old Jermaine Jordan was shot in the 500 block of Newcomb Street, SE. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of the shooting and discovered Jordan suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported Jordan to a local hospital in a desperate
attempt to save his life. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The case was quickly classified as a homicide, prompting an intensive investigation by detectives.
In the days following the shooting, police publicly identified Jermaine Jordan, a resident of Southeast D.C., as the victim. The Metropolitan Police Department issued a public appeal for assistance, seeking any information that could lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Jordan's death. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the homicide.
