In the pre-dawn hours of a summer Saturday in Washington, D.C., the life of 18-year-old Shaun Simmons was tragically cut short. On August 1, 2015, at approximately 4:23 a.m., gunshots shattered the quiet of the 1300 block of Savannah Street in Southeast D.C., leaving the young man with multiple wounds.
