On July 3, 2024, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of 5th Avenue South, near Avondale Park. Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old Dianisleidy Rodriguez Hernandez, a Cuban national, unresponsive near an apartment, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced her deceased at the scene.
