In the summer of 2024, the life of 18-year-old Josh Towns of Selma, Alabama, was tragically cut short. On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Towns was discovered deceased inside a vehicle located near the entrance of the Pine Glenn Estates in Perry County. The cause of his death was determined to be a shooting.
The day following the discovery of Towns' body, authorities moved swiftly in their investigation. An arrest was made on Friday, July 20, 2024, bringing a suspect into custody. Mikell Craig, an 18-year-old male from Selma, was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting.
Following his arrest, Mikell Craig was charged with capital murder in the death of Josh Towns. He is currently being held in custody without bond, awaiting an Aniah's Law hearing to determine future legal proceedings in the case.
