On September 27, 2021, 19-year-old Michael Earl Stiles Jr., a resident of Selma, Alabama, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. in the area of J.L. Chestnut Street and King Street. Stiles was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on the 900 block of King Street when an individual stepped into the street and opened fire on the vehicle. Stiles sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
