On the morning of August 4, 2024, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Huntsville Police Department (HPD) officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1200 block of Hobbs Island Road. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old Kirk Michael Urban suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Emergency Medical Services transported Urban to Huntsville Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
