In the summer of 2024, a violent tragedy unfolded in Birmingham, Alabama, abruptly ending the life of 49-year-old Laquitta Charisse Dunn. On August 8th, Dunn was fatally shot in what has been described as a domestic shooting spree that claimed two lives and left two others injured. The incident that led to her death was part of a quadruple shooting that also resulted in the death of 76-year-old Anthony Jackson.
The events of that day were allegedly set in motion by a dispute over a small
sum of money. The man accused of the shootings was identified by police as Carrie Jackson Jr. In a devastating turn of events, the other victims of the rampage were members of the suspect's own family. Anthony Jackson, who was killed, was Carrie Jackson Jr.'s grandfather. The two wounded individuals were the suspect's own father and his grandfather's girlfriend.
Following the shootings, a manhunt for Carrie Jackson Jr. ensued. He was apprehended by Birmingham police officers in the Five Points West area. Family members reportedly provided police with information that aided in his capture. According to relatives, the violent outburst that led to the death of Laquitta Charisse Dunn and Anthony Jackson was completely out of character for the alleged shooter, who they said had never been in trouble with the law before. The dispute was reportedly over $250.
